These boosters sound horrible. 2x or even 3x boosters definitely tip the whole "pay to improve your gameplay experience by faster progress" concept to "pay to have anything resemling a chance of a level playing field in all non casual content"
CCP has to be very carefull with adding such products. When the difference between paying and not paying gets too large people tend to stop bothering, rather than start spending.

Consumers like choice and incentive. Not pressure and necessity. Just look at the math my friend, do you think players will play the game for 6.29 years? Is the Playstation 3 Going to be around for that long? How about the PS4 ? Are games going to be the same in 6.29 years? Technology gonna be the same then? The skill system is not designed to be maxed out in the first place. |

DRE PrEaCh wrote:My point was when you make it so that people realize that they can never "complete" a character and play this game at the highest level then people don't see the point in continuing towards that goal and quit early.
It's like having a never ending game.
People like "endings"
I think you guys are scared of people maxing out a character cuz you see it's "unfair"
what you don't realize is players who dominate continuously get bored and move on ANYWAY.
What people want to see is a maxed out character going against another maxed out character, that's simple curiosity and what u guys are saying is "forget bout curiosity, the sp system isn't designed to be maxed out.. we don't want people to max out their characters" This guy would like to have a word with you.
Do not expect anyone to cap a character out anytime soon or even at all as CCP will add a bunch of new stuff and skills to maybe even double the amount of SP in the next years. Maxing out is pretty much impossible by design to emphasize the "specialize" nature if the skill system. This is not a grind to power EXP LVL game. It's a choices get meaning through invested time game.
Edit:Skill boosters, by their very nature appeal the most to people who don't understand or agree with the mentioned concept and i would supect that giving them these stronger boosters might lead to them paying more for the stronger boosters but also stop buying earlier because they don't see the purpose of generalization stop seeing SP as worth paying money for. Add this to the potentionally harmfull effect of the game beeing viewed as "pay to win" and you end up sabotaging your own business
Also you can have completely equal skill battles. Take two proto suits with relevant core skills and their respective weapon and module skills maxed and you get your capped on capped fight. The wonderfull thing is they can use completely different guns suits and fits and have points invested in completely different branches and still have a fair fight. |

This game is a lot like life.
We all want to do everything and get to places as fast as we can so we forget that the most important thing is the journey. :) Don't mention it . Always glad to provide input.
On the subject: I'd really like to get a statement from IWS or the others as to what points the CPM wants to talk about, with respect to these new boosters. I think it's quite a complex and important subject that warrants at least a little "synchronization" with the community, given that they will probably become the go to item for the most dedicated, once they set foot on the market. |
